About

The goal of this project is to design and construct a Stirling engine powered by a tea light candle for less than $10 and use this engine to lift quarters at least 2 meters. To achieve this, used or very cheap materials were selected to build the Stirling engine. In addition to constructing the engine, a detailed thermodynamic analysis was performed to determine that the Stirling engine could generate enough energy to lift the quarters two meters.

This website catalogs our work throughout the project: from design to analysis to construction to testing. Throughout our work, we seek to explain the rationale behind our decisions in a way that can be understood by anyone with a limited background in thermodynamics.
